Soil and groundwater remediation in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania

After a comprehensive analysis of the spill site, we submitted a revised clean-up plan that recommended replacing the existing remediation system with a vapor-enhanced groundwater extraction system, along with 18 groundwater monitoring wells on and around the site. When we deactivated the remediation system four years later, it had extracted and treated groundwater with 100-percent removal efficiency and removed more than 12,000 pounds of hydrocarbons.
Through analytical sampling and fate and transport modeling, we demonstrated that the client had attained both statewide health standards and site-specific standards for the petroleum release, and the site was afforded Act 2 liability protection.
